The Foundry Wedding Venue

One of my favorite wedding venues in New York City is The Foundry. Known for its industrial space, private courtyard, and ivy-covered walls, it’s a hidden gem right in plain sight. As a wedding venue, The Foundry is unique location because it allows couples to host their wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in any of their outside or indoor spaces.

Clients can also get ready on-site which alleviates any stress of where to put on your gown or suit the morning of your wedding. I also love that there is an automatic “plan b” for couples should the weather not cooperate. As an NYC wedding photographer, I have photographed several amazing weddings at The Foundry, I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots for wedding photos, ceremony locations, and some tips when you visit the site.

Favorite Photo Locations for The Foundry Wedding Photos

When you visit The Foundry, you’ll be immediately drawn to its beauty. There are several beautiful spaces and locations to take your wedding photos. Here are some of my favorites for couples, bridal parties, and family photos.

No.1 - The Courtyard - A true hidden gem in the heart of new york city. The outside courtyard at The Foundry is covered with Ivy along the wall and tons of sweet nooks for the perfect portraits. They also have a new steel platform that clients can use for their first-look location and bridal portraits.

No. 2 - Outside of the Building - Don’t overlook the outside of the building itself. I love the signage and ivy along with the growing up along the side of The Foundry and on a sunny day, can really create a beautiful backdrop for your photos.

No. 3 - Foundry Terrace - One of my favorite spots at the Foundry is the Terrace. It’s a private patio that couples can rent out in addition to access to the venue which is the perfect location for your big reveal - The First Look. The Bride or Groom can walk up the stairs and share a sweet and private moment to share your first kiss of the day before you are officially married.

No.3 - The Greenhouse - I love the inside decor of the Greenhouse. There is a lot of available light with the glass skylight and a great “plan b” option for photos if the weather decides not to cooperate on your wedding day.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Locations

Choosing to have your wedding ceremony outside in the private, perfectly manicured courtyard, is one of my favorite options for couples. If you time your wedding to be in the Spring and Summer the ivy will create a canopy of green-covered walls, or if you prefer the Fall, the ivy walls will be a sensational ombre of reds, oranges, and yellows. Guest are treated to sounds of the city and views of the 59th street bridge while they wait for the ceremony to begin.

Indoor Wedding Ceremony Locations

A truly iconic wedding ceremony location is The Foundry’s indoor main space. Guest can sit on the main floor or walk up the steel stairs and witness your vows from the free-floating balcony. The light flows through the space sharing the details of the exposed brick and steel structures.

Cocktail Hour Locations

Who doesn’t love having fancy-made cocktails with a soft Summer breeze during a wonderful celebration? The Foundry has several wonderful options to host your cocktail hour to entertain your guests before your wedding reception begins.

No. 1 - The Greenhouse - A lighter decor of mixed white, glass, and a light covering of Ivy, The Greenhouse is a great option to host your cocktail hour. Easy access to the bar, restrooms, and the immediate courtyard creates a friendly and warm environment. Couples can also bring in lounge furniture to create a more intimate and relaxed cocktail hour for you and your guests to enjoy.

No. 2 - The Albra Room - The only all-white option at the Foundry is perfect for your cocktail hour overflow and perfect for your after-party too!

Outdoor Wedding Reception Venue at The Foundry

Eating dinner under the stars sounds pretty amazing right? Well, at The Foundry you can enjoy an open-air reception in the private courtyard with your invited wedding guests. You have a clear or white tented constructed. Hang rows of string lights to create a romantic decor like you are dancing under the stars in the middle of New York City.

Indoor Wedding Reception Venue at The Foundry

Inside the main space at The Foundry is truly unique and stunning all on its own. Long farm-style tables allow guests to dine together and share food family style. Guest can dine on the second-floor balcony and even out in the courtyard if you have a large wedding party. The glass skylight brings in a flood of light into the main space and at night, it turns into the perfect dance floor to dance the night away.

Micro Wedding in New York

Sometimes, in life, you have to just roll with the punches and make lemonade out of lemons that are beyond your control. When the pandemic guidelines starting to become more strict for gatherings and events, Ashley and Tim knew that their original wedding plans were going to have to be reimagined. The couple did not want to wait to get married so coming up with a plan b was top of mind.

The couple decided to throw an intimate, small micro wedding at their new home in new york. They held their outdoor ceremony in the front yard and wedding reception in their backyard. It might not have been what they initially planned but with an incredible vendor team, it was absolutely breathtaking. No detail was spared and it was even more romantic, meaningful, and emotional than anyone could have dreamt.

Ashley and Tim shared their first look on the front lawn of The Master’s School in Dobbs Ferry. They were married in front of a gorgeous floral ceremony arch with birchwood swathed in weeping wisteria, calla lilies, and long white orchids by Ruth Ridgewood Designs. Ashley and Tim had a clear canopy tent in their backyard so their guests could dine al fresco under the night sky. Wooden chairs, long farm tables, and lots of candlelight set the mood.

I’m so excited to share a few of my favorite images from their wedding day. Ashley and Tim’s wedding was also featured on Martha Stewart Weddings.

Classic Black Tie Wedding at JW Marriott Essex House in NYC

Every so often, I work with a couple who feels like family from the very first phone call. We get along as if we’ve known each other for years, and the day goes by so effortlessly that I thank my lucky stars they found me. This is exactly what being part of Kelly and Jared’s wedding at JW Marriott Essex House in New York City was like.

The bride began her day by getting ready with her bridesmaids, and mother in one of the private terrace suits at the Essex House. They had a private patio with incredible views overlooking the iconic Central Park. Kelly and Jared shared their private and emotional first look outside on the private patio before stepping into their vintage Royce Royce to head to their church wedding ceremony at The Church of St Paul the Apostle. The Priest that married the couple, was also the same priest that baptized Kelly and her sisters, so having him be part of their joyous day was truly special for the couple.

Kelly curated the best welcome gift bags for their guests that included lots of NYC stapes including individually wrapped New York State red apples, New York Pretzel Chocolate Bars from Dylan's Candy, and classic Yellow Taxi Cab sugar cookies. I had way too much styling these welcome bags on my Locust Collection rollable surfaces in their hotel suite.

After the happy couple was officially married(!!!), we headed inside Central Park for their family, bridal party, and finally their bride and groom portraits. It was crowded but when you walk around in a stunning Pronovias wedding dress with cathedral length veil, the crowds make room for you! We even were in the park for a seriously stunning golden hour sunset which is some of my favorite wedding photos from their entire day!

We soon arrived at the JW Marriott Essex House so the couple could enjoy a bit of their cocktail hour before their wedding reception inside the ballroom began. The couple took dancing lessons to practice for their first dance which had kelly up in the air and swinging from Jared's arms. Lots of Cheers and happy tears were shed when they entered the room to begin their wedding celebration! The couple had Hank Lane’s Brooklyn Sound band keep everyone on the dance floor from the very first song only taking breaks to eat and listen to speeches and toasts!

It was a true honor to be part of Kelly and Jared’s wedding day and I already know I’m going to be part of their lives forever. I cannot wait to see what is next for this incredibly loving couple! xo

Wedding Photos at The Foundry with Ashley Chamblin Events

When you find your dream venue, that is already pretty perfect on it's own, how do you make it even better? You use a lot of dreamy colors to bring the iconic Foundry to life and that's just what Katie & Harry did!

The couple worked closely with Ashley Chamblin Events to create this inspiring color palette to create a one of a kind wedding. They incorporated fresh fruit in their centerpieces, bright yellow and pink flowers in their floral arrangements, and even different colored coral and pink bridesmaid dresses for their intimate bridal party. It all worked seamlessly to create a cohesive and totally unique wedding for the couple.

On a near-perfect day in July, Katie and Harry stud under the bright floral Chuppah in front of their closest family and friends and became husband and wife. Katie wore an elegant dress from Rebecca Shone Designs with a hairpin and veil from Hushed Commotion. The groom's blue suit played off on the couple's color palette down to matching the blue in their invitation suite which I dried oranges for the night before. It was the perfect touch to tell their story.

The open-air cocktail hour led to a seated reception inside the stunning wedding venue. Guest dined on three levels before heading into the green house for dancing and cake. It was an incredible day for a wonderful couple and I’m so honored I could be there with them on their special day! xo
